Blake Hutchison was born Robert Ewing Hutchison II in Columbus, Ohio on February 2, 1980, and grew up near Bellefontaine, Ohio. He legally changed his name to Blake Nicholas Hutchison in 1998, and started participating in community theatre projects in 2002, with his first significant role being that of a gender-confused waiter in "Eighty Six Sense" for 11:11 Productions and Emerald City Players in Dublin, Ohio. In 2003, he started production on his first feature project "Finding a Dream", which was completed in 2005. He entered the University of Toledo in 2005, at age 25, to pursue a degree in Film and Video production, and graduated with honors in 2009.
Made "Finding A Dream" using a consumer-grade digital video camera.
Is the youngest of six children from three different marriages. Four of his siblings have the same mother as him, and two have the same father.
Has not seen or spoken to his father since 1999.
Was home-schooled, but did briefly attend public school during kindergarten.
Briefly attended Edison Community College in Piqua, Ohio.
Entered college as a freshman living on campus at the age of 25.
Has been known to openly support children's rights issues.
Once worked for the now-defunct Big Bear grocery chain that was popular in the Columbus area. Worked at the Marysville, Ohio store location from 1999 to 2001.
First television appearance was on a local television show out of Lima, Ohio hosted by Easter Springer, around 1983.
As a child, he was deathly afraid of the Sansevieria plant that is now his production company logo.
Was ambidextrous until about age 6. Is primarily right-handed today.
Is the youngest of his siblings. The eldest are twins who are 18 years older than he is.

Is a huge fan of the Firefly TV series and the Serenity movie, but had never even heard of Firefly prior to seeing Serenity in 2005.
Favorite directors are Wes Anderson, Zak Hilditch, Bobcat Goldthwait, and Carl Bessai.
Was a huge fan of books in the "Choose Your Own Adventure" series while growing up, and owns a copy of most of the titles in the original series which was in print between 1979 and 1998. Has admitted to still reading them from time to time even though he is an adult.
Is a fan of the "Galaxy Angel" manga and anime series.
His professors at the University of Toledo have included Dyrk Ashton and Jon Hendricks.
Despite being born over a month premature, was nearly eight pounds at birth.
Reached his current height of over 6 ft by age 14.

Has been affiliated with both major political parties of the USA.
