Christopher W. "Chris" Cooper (born July 9, 1951) is an American film actor. He became well known in the late 1990s. He has appeared in supporting performances in several major Hollywood films, including The Bourne Identity, American Beauty, Capote, The Town, The Kingdom, Syriana, October Sky, Seabiscuit, Breach and Adaptation, for which he won both the Academy Award and Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor.His most recent role was as Tex Richman, an evil oil baron and the main human antagonist in the 2011 film The Muppets.

1963年出生，加拿大人。他85年毕业于专门培养演员的美国戏剧艺术学院，后来在耶鲁进修过戏剧。第一个角色，是87年的系列恐怖电视剧《13号星期五 Friday the 13th》的一个角色。由于他的资料不多，接下来几年干嘛去了不知道，再一次打酱油是在94年的《法律与秩序》里客串一个酱油角色Ron Blocker，95年他的第一个电影角色是《银线风暴 Money Train》的酱油。95年他在一部2季被砍的喜剧《Hope & Gloria》里演主演Louis Utz。后来又演了《婚礼的成员 The Member of The Wedding》、《搞错人 The Wrong Guy》等电影。 终于在97年接到了7季喜剧电视剧《Just Shoot Me! 》的主演角色Elliot DiMauro！这期间还演了《惊爆银河系 Galaxy Quest》这部恶搞喜剧片。这时候他成为了一个人气很旺的喜剧演员。01年终于在大片《人工智能 Artificial Intelligence: AI》里演上小配角了！ 拍完那部《Just Shoot Me！》以后，他直接进入了《美眉校探Veronica Mars》剧组，在里面演女主的爸爸Keith Mars，该剧三季被砍但是也让他收获了一个青少年选择奖提名。他在加拿大拍了一部迷你剧《ZOS: Zone of Separation》。后来，08年，他在CBS警匪题材剧《闪点行动Gregory Parker》里演SRU的领导 Greg Parker，这个角色也为她赢得了一个加拿大双子座奖提名和一个双子座奖，人气飙升。2011年，他在迷你剧《肯尼迪家族 The Kennedys》里演联邦调查局的真实人物J. Edgar Hoover，同时还演了电影《传染病 Contagion》。现在他在《疑犯追踪 Person of Interest》里演Carl Elias。明年上映的《Veronica Mars美眉校探电影版》里仍然由他饰演侦探老爸！
